This study examined the alignment between intelligence police training and deployment practices within the Philippine National Police (PNP). It assessed deployment policies and procedures, the extent to which officers' training backgrounds, skills, and expertise were considered in assignments, and the organizational factors associated with deployment misalignment. A descriptive mixed-methods research design involved eighty-five (85) intelligence-trained police officers—thirty (30) Police Commissioned Officers and fifty-five (55) Police Non-Commissioned Officers—together with semi-structured interviews with selected intelligence-trained personnel and documentary analysis of relevant PNP policies. Survey data were summarized using weighted means, while interview and policy data were examined through thematic and content analysis and integrated during interpretation. Participants rated training background (WM = 3.40), skills (WM = 3.29), and expertise (WM = 3.36) as "Considered to Some Extent" in deployment decisions. Participants also reported organizational culture, resource constraints, bureaucratic processes, and leadership processes as factors that may hinder consistent competency-based deployment. The findings support clearer competency-based assignment criteria, stronger personnel profiling, periodic review of deployment policies, adequate organizational support, and transparent leadership practices. The author discusses potential implications for morale, job satisfaction, professional development, and organizational performance as outcomes of deployment alignment rather than as standalone outcomes directly measured in the reported results.
